Workshop:
Spaces are limited for this workshop. Registration is based
on a first come, first serve basis. If you haven’t already registered
yet please contact the ARCCO office, by phone or email, so that we
can hold space/s for you. You can bring your registration form with
a cheque to OCAD, where the workshop is being held, but you must contact
the ARCCO office ASAP, to confirm your registration.
MEMBERSHIP FEES: Fees are
due. All members are required to pay their fees prior to participating
in these events. FEES: A registration
fee of $100 is to be paid by all member centres as agreed upon
April 15, 2002. The funds go toward travel subsidy for members
outside of Toronto. BOARD MEMBERS: All
Board members please note that you must pay the membership and
registration fee to maintain the membership of your centre.

[ ] TRAVEL SUBSIDIES TO ATTEND AGM
Travel subsidy is available for ARCCO members only, for one
representative per centre. The travel subsidy fund cannot exceed the
total registration fees collected. ARCCO will aim for 100% reimbursement
of eligible travel costs; however, it may be necessary to pro-rate
at a lower percentage. There is no travel subsidy form. Please save
your receipts for actual costs, i.e.: gas receipts for travel by car,
economy air/train/bus travel and submit to ARCCO by mail after our
meetings. Please note that this does not include in-town travel (buses,
cabs, parking, etc.). The ARCCO mailing address is listed below.

ARCCO Best Practices Workshop Series
Part 4 ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS: HOW DO WE DEFINE SUCCESS?

OCAD Annex, Room 1320, 113 McCaul Street, Toronto
Please Note: This session will take place in Room 1320 of OCAD. The
room is in the OCAD Annex - not in the Sharpe Centre - on the east
side of McCaul in the Village on the Grange. The street entrance has
purple signage and is just south of McDonald’s. From there,
proceed through the food court, past the security desk to the elevators.
The room is on the third floor at the end of the hallway on the right
hand side.

Organizational Effectiveness: How Do We Define Success?
ARCCO’s Best Practice Series is designed for ARCCO and IMAA
members. This workshop on organizational effectiveness is aimed at
providing different models/ templates of what an effective organization
looks like. It will be a full day of information sharing with knowledgeable
individuals who have exceptional vantage points and perspectives from
which they can address the successes and challenges faced by the artist-run
sector.
The morning will consist of an information session with consultant
Judy Wolfe, who will outline the fundamental elements to an organization’s
success, which take into account and include: fulfilling its mission
and achieving its goals; the inputs and resources available, and how
they are used, as well as the processes that have been put in place.
Judy will also review a series of questions that are essential to
ask when looking for indicators of organizational effectiveness.
The morning session will be followed by an afternoon Panel Discussion
where panelists will discuss key characteristics of a sound organization,
based on their knowledge and experience with the visual and media
arts community. Following the panel discussion, all panelists and
participants will participate in one Roundtable Discussion that will
follow up on issues raised during the panel presentations.

Chair and President Danielle Tremblay
The mandate of this year's committee was to acknowledge ARCCO's priorities,
and consider the skills and representation required to best fill the
vacancies and to build a well balanced and effective board. We consulted
with many members to determine their interest in serving on the board
and came up with our recommendation.
The Nominations Committee presented their recommendations to the board
and the following proposal was accepted by the board to present to
the membership at the AGM.

you to Danielle Tremblay, Christine Burchnall and Jessie
Lacayo for their valuable contribution to ARCCO., Jewell
wishes to acknowledge Danielle and Christine for the exceptional
time and energy they committed to the development of ARCCO.
They served on ARCCO’s first steering committee
in 1999 and were the first board members in 2000 and have
both been instrumental in ARCCO”s growth and progress.
Jewell and the board would also like to express their
gratitude to Jessie Lacayo for her dedication to ARCCO
and for her support to and enhancement of ARCCO’s
values and priorities.
ARCCO wishes Jessie, Christine and Danielle continued
success in all of their future projects and endeavours.

BIOS OF THE CANDIDATES Philip Anderson
Philip Anderson has been the Gallery Director of Gallery 1313 since
1998 and is a founding member of the Parkdale Arts Collective 1994
. Phil has curated several exhibitions OUTSKIRTS : Art for the Suburbs
(with Gary Michael Dault ), CODE ( with Katherine Mulherin and Gary
Michael Dault ), WET (a group exhibition ), The Leisure Show, ADVENTURE
as well as others .
As Gallery Director, Phil has aided in having several international
exhibitions at Gallery 1313. Phil Anderson has organized many special
events and festivals in the past . He has practiced his own art as
well and has shown frequently. Phil Anderson also serves on the Artscape
Board.
Heather Campbell
Heather Campbell is an Inuit artist and curator originally from Labrador,
active on a local and national level as an artist, curator, writer
and cultural interpreter. Heather has participated in the Inuit Committee
of Employees, and the Committee for the Advancement of Native Employees,
she was the President and Treasurer for the Tumgasuuvvingat Inuit
Board of Directors, she also worked as the Curatorial Assistant at
the Inuit Art Centre for Indian Northern Affairs and is currently
the Language and Culture Coordinator at the Inuit Tapariit Kanatami.
Heather has participated at Gallery 101’s board for the past
two years and will be renewing her term for a consecutive two more
years.
She brings to ARCCO’s Board organizational and fundraising knowledge,
as well as specific experience in policy writing and terms of reference.
Heather offers a unique perspective and promotes artist-run centres
to members of the Inuit and Aboriginal community. Moreover, Heather
brings a knowledge of fundraising and membership development gained
throughout her position as Board member with Gallery 101. Campbell
also brings a specific regional discussion around Inuit issues and
community that would be a benefit in any outreach discussion.
Paul Walty
Paul Walty is a Toronto-based artist/activist who is an active founding
member of Le LABO - Le Laboratoire d’art, a francophone visual
art and media research facility in Toronto, as well as a visual arts
representative for the Alliance culturelle de l’Ontario (an
association of francophone culturel organisations in Ontario). Paul
Walty has been a long time member and is currently the president of
Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, the only francophone artist-run centre
in Ontario.
