ARCCO ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
If you are wondering why we are having another AGM already, please remember that this is a transition year for ARCCO. The last AGM was delayed by many months in order to coincide with the national conference in Ottawa. ARCCO's fiscal year end is June 30 and the Board is obliged to present a financial report to the members in a timely manner. From now on, ARCCO's AGM will be held in the early fall.
The AGM agenda will include all of the regular business. Some of the reports from the board and the Executive Director will be brief due to the short time that has lapsed between meetings. However, there are several new items includng the Financial Report which has been prepared by our accountants, a proposal for an amendment to our by-laws expanding our membership categories and the ARCCO survey.

TRAVEL SUBSIDIES
To ensure that ARCCO members can meet regularly and to alleviate the financial burden that is placed on members with the greatest distance to travel, we will be implementing the system agreed upon by the membership on April 15, 2002. All members will be required to pay a $100 registration fee for the meeting and those funds will be used to subsidize travel costs.
A follow-up email with a form for travel subsidy will be sent.

FACE TO FACE WITH FUNDERS
In the past five months, all artist-run centres have received the results of their major operating grant applications from the arts councils. Those results have made a significant impact on indivdual centres resulting in substantial shifts in the landscape. Officers from the Ontario Arts Council and The Canada Council will be invited to discuss developments and directions in these funding programs. Other funders have aso requested an opportunity to present information about new programs to our members and the full roster of representatives will be announced in September.

MEMBERSHIP FEES AND DUES
In an effort to time membership fees at a logical time for ARCCO and a convenient time for our members, the payment of annual membership fees is due at the start of our fiscal year. The fees for the current year are due as of July 1st and need to be paid in full prior to the AGM in September. Membership forms are included with this issue of the e-bulletin as an attachment. Please print the forms and return to the ARCCO office accompanied by a cheque for membership and AGM registration.

MEMBERS' FORUM AND RECEPTION
One of the overwhelming responses heard at the Convergence Conference was the need for more opportunities to discuss issues in more depth and to exchange information. This is your chance to air issues and concerns that you would like to share with the other ARC administrators. If you have topics for discussion, please forward your suggestions to jewel.goodwyn@sympatico.ca.
Some issues that have already been brought forward are:
- conflict of interest policies (ie: board members receiving payment for curating or exhibiting, directors curating exhibitions, etc.)
- employee benefit packages (this may involve a presentation)
- IFVA Ontario members would like to discuss with ARCCO members how (primarily) visual arts-based and media arts centres can work together
The list of topics will be prepared in advance and presented at the beginning of the forum at which time we will determine the priorities and format for the forum.
A reception will be held immediately following the forum to allow discussions to continue informally and to welcome all visitors to Toronto. Thank you in advance to the Women's Art Resource Centre for generously agreeing to host these events.

2002 ARC Survey
ARCCO's year 2000 survey on employment standards in ARCs was very simple and highly effective. It became one of the few sources of accurate and up-to-date information providing evidence of sub-standard wages, high levels of unpaid overtime and lack of employee benefits. The information was sought after by government officials and many ARC staff members found it to be a useful tool in working with their boards to improve the terms of employment contracts in their centres.
This year we will repeat the successful procedure of distributing the new survey prior to the AGM and collecting the completed forms at the meeting. The purpose of this year's survey will be to track changes and improvements in employment conditions and determine what type of professional development opportunities, workshops or services would benefit you and your centre.
Jewel Goodwyn, ARCCO's Executive Director, will be make a brief presentation about the survey at the AGM.

ARCCO Bulletin
ARCCO's new board has developed a two-pronged communications strategy to address the memberships need for more information on a more timely basis. This is the first issue of ARCCO's e-bulletin which will be sent only to members every four to six weeks and more often when necessary. Its purpose is to provide timely delivery of information to our members. The ARCCO Bulletin will be printed twice a year providing a more permanent record of substantial reports, articles, facts, photos, etc. It will not only serve our members but will function as the voice of ARCCO for a wider audience.
