ARCCO MEMBERS
ARCCO has over 45 member organizations including artist-run centres, media arts centres, arts service organizations and artist-run collectives.
Members are located in 15 municipalities in four regions of Ontario and one region of Quebec. This covers a span of 2,000 kilometres, two official languages and numerous diverse cultures.
Member organizations provide venues and programs throughout Ontario for all forms of contemporary art. Their diversified programs reach over 200,000 audience members per year. Together, they have over 9,000 artist members.
The activities of Ontario artist-run centres contribute to the development of contemporary art practices and production both provincially and nationally. These centres continue to lead the way in new media, theoretical discourse, innovative aesthetics and arts administration. They provide artists with resources and facilities to produce work and to present that work to an audience of peers and contemporary-art-engaged public. Viewed with envy by artists worldwide, Canada's network of artist-run and media arts centres has been a major catalyst in the development of visual and media arts at a national level.
ARCCO maintains an online member directory which includes direct links to members' websites.
BOARD OF DIRECORS
Annually, the ARCCO membership elects a board of directors drawn from its full membership. ARCCO strives to maintain a board that is skilled, equitable and culturally diverse as well as regionally representative relative to our membership.
BECOME A MEMBER
ARCCO exists to promote and support artist-directed organizations and activities throughout Ontario. Our core membership includes established artist-run centres that have historically received public support. We also serve the needs of collectives that are engaged in artist-directed activities and who may or may not be incorporated.
ARCCO's commitment to diverse types of artist-supporting organizations is reflected in our various membership categories: full, associate and affiliate.
Full membership is for collectives and centres committed to paying artist fees and based in the province of Ontario.
Affiliate membership has the same requirements, except it is not geographically exclusive.
Associate membership is open to applicants who meet Full membership criteria; or to those applicants who are currently unable to demonstrate payment of artist fees, but who support the principle of paying artist fees and meet all other membership criteria.
To learn more about these categories, and to find out which one is the best fit for your organization, please contact ARCCO at 519-672-7898 or by email at arcco [at] bellnet.ca |
